Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company Completes the First Phase of Renovations at Mercure Hurghada

New arrival experience and lobby ready for the festive season, with rebranding to Mövenpick planned for early 2027

Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company has completed the first phase of renovations at Mercure Hurghada, including the new arrival experience and lobby, in preparation for Christmas and New Year. The hotel will change its brand to Mövenpick at the beginning of 2027.

The completion comes as the company’s hotels record occupancy levels above 90%, with strong demand expected during the festive season. The new entrance, reception area and lobby provide a welcoming setting for guests and mark an important step in the hotel’s renovation programme.

Yahia Kotub, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company, said: “We are pleased to have completed this phase ahead of the festive season. The arrival experience sets the first impression for our guests, and we wanted it to reflect the quality and comfort they can expect throughout their stay. We are continuing to invest in the remaining renovations as we prepare for the hotel to become Mövenpick Hurghada in early 2027.

The total renovation programme for the company’s hotels in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh exceeds USD 100 million, covering both completed work and the remaining phases. Around 80% of the renovations at Mövenpick Sharm El Sheikh have already been completed.

The company is also making progress with the construction of Sofitel Legend Pyramids, opposite the Grand Egyptian Museum, with direct views of the Pyramids of Giza. The hotel will bring together the character of this historic location and the service of Sofitel Legend to offer guests a special hospitality experience.

Further projects are being prepared, including a hotel with 450 rooms in Hurghada and another with 500 rooms in Sharm El Sheikh, together with an extension of 120 rooms at the existing Mövenpick Sharm El Sheikh.

“We have confidence in the future of tourism in Egypt, Kotub added. “Our focus is on improving our existing hotels and developing new projects that add value to their destinations. For us, this means investing in quality, service and the people who make the guest experience.
